well done on getting out there!

Now don't worry about speed or distance for the moment.

Creating the habit is first and foremost, just keep getting out there and enjoying. While you are just plodding along, not thinking at all about speed or distance, focus on an economic running style, run tall with your core muscles engaged, and the rest of you relaxed. Remind yourself every 2 or 3 minutes to realign this style.

In this way you will do what you are supposed to be doing, enjoying the run without pressure. In a couple of weeks, once the habit is established, you could bring in another focus to think about.

I would suggest that you don't think too far ahead (ie Amsterdam), for the moment. You have enough in the tank to get you around some shape now, and thinking that far ahead will only feel like pressure.

Give the young TB a hug.

The important thing is that you are enjoying yourself.

Consistency and enjoyment are the key to almost everything.
